Classroom Items Needed:

As we get into our routines and word work times, I have found that there are special items that are needed for our work that is not available. If you are able to provide any of the following- it would be greatly appreciated:

Wet wipes- we do a lot of work on erasable boards that the students are independantly cleaning themselves. Wet wipes are a great tool to clean that is safe for children (vs. clorox wipes)
Paper Bags: We will be making paper bag puppets throughout the year supporting our stories and words that we are working on.
White Board Pens- we use them throughout the day as a class and as individuals.

Homework

Daily Homework:

Tell someone at home about your day.
Read a book to someone- remember to read using the pictures and words
Show mom or dad any work or important papers that were sent home.
Play!

Skills to Work on at Home:

Writing using conventions we have been practicing in class: uppercase letter to start the sentence, spaces between words, correct spelling of sight words, punctuation at the end of a sentence.
Talking about books they are reading at home- what do they think is happening? Why? What are they wondering about the text?
Recognizing and reading known sight words in the text.
Reading and writing numbers from 0-30 out of order.

Reminders....

Be sure to check your student's folder every day. Important papers are sent this way. At the beginning of every month a newsletter is sent home with your child as well as uploaded to the connect site. Make sure you check it for important classroom news and school work updates.

Popcorn Friday's This awesome event is scheduled for the FIRST Friday only, of every month. On those days, your child may purchase a bag of popcorn, after lunch, for 25 cents or three box tops

Drop Off:As it gets a little colder, many parents are driving thier students to school. Please remember that if you drive, that you park your car in the front parking lot and walk your student to the designated area. Our children's safety is number one and we want to be sure that students are getting to school safely rather than quickly. Thank you!
Label: Please remember to label student jackets, hats, and gloves before they come to school. It is easier to find them if they have a name to identify with:)
