We are Learning About

What are we learning about?

Study Skills: Students are learning life skills for success through cooperation, flexibility, respect &  responsibility. We are learning to have a Growth Mindset. There is no limit to my learning if I put in the effort, my brain will learn.

Reading: Students now have 25 to 30 minutes of reading stamina. We are currently working on Author's Purpose, Main Idea, Finding Evidence, Answering and Asking Questions and Wonders. When reading at home be sure to ask those higher level questions. How did the character change in the book? Why did they change? Look back at the text and find some powerful, descriptive words. Explain what they mean. Why is ____ a good title for the book?

Writing: We are working on Informational Text. Students will be writing their own Nonfction books. Students are learning about text structures and text features.

Math:We are learning our fact families for 2's, 3's, 4's, & 5's. Memorization is the best way to tackle this learning target.

  1. Read the Problem
  2. Highlight what is being asked
  3. HIghlight what you know
  4. Solve-be sure to draw pictures of your thinking. Use number models to represent your pictures. Be sure your answer is clearly labeled.
  5. Check your answer. Does it make sense?

Science: We are studying Properties of Matter.

Homework: A packet comes home on Friday and is due the following Friday. Everyday Math worksheets are due the following class day.
