New Procedure for Volunteers
New this year, all volunteers must complete an online application. If you have students at different schools in Issaquah, you only need to fill this out once and will be asked to mark which schools you want to volunteer at. Click the link, https://issaquahvolunteers.hrmplus.net to apply to volunteer.
Our school is now running at full speed to prepare for the school year. New enrollments keep coming in daily. Materials for our new math program and school supplies are filling our hallways. Teachers are attending professional development and prepping their rooms. Life is full and excitement is building!
Welcome New Kindergarten Teacher: Ms. Cantalini. We are passing another milestone by adding a 6th kindergarten class! We continue to have five classes of 1st and 2nd grades and four classes of 3rd, 4th and 5th grades; but we are experiencing steady growth – opening this year with over 610 students compared to just over 580 last year.
Kindergarten Family Connections. If you have a kindergarten student you should have received an email through Skyward last week inviting you to a Family Connection Conference on September 1st, 2nd or 6th. Remember, kindergartener’s first day of school is September 7th.
Purchasing School Supplies
For the 2016-17 school year we will be trying something new to provide classroom supplies for students. Rather than predict the school supplies students will need and create lists or kits for students to buy supplies, we will be asking parents to pay a one-time supply fee and then leverage our bulk buying power to buy student classroom supplies and consumables as we go.
What if I can’t pay the supply fee? As always, we have grants and support for students for all school supplies, including backpacks, binders and materials for completing homework. You may contact the school office about partial or full scholarships or contact our school counselor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What if I have questions about the supply fee? Please email questions to Mr. Mellish at email@example.com
What do I need to purchase still?
Our goal is to provide nearly all supplies. There may be some exceptions – for example if there is a particularly bad cold season a teacher may ask for more Kleenex, but we will seek to avoid even these requests. Remember also, that this fee covers the cost of classroom subscriptions such as Scholastic News, a fee that was separate from supplies in past years.
When is the fee due? The sooner payments come in the better for us. We are asking for all supply fees to be paid by September 9th.
