MATH ON CALL A Mathematics Handbook (Great Source Education Group A Houghton Mifflin Company) An excellent math resource to have at home for both kids and parents. I ordered my copy through Barnes and Noble.
I try to be available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings 7:20-7:35 and Wednesday mornings 9:45-10:00 to provide math help. Encourage your child to seek help during these times if additional help beyond class time is needed. It is helpful if they check with me about my availability because of possible conflicts with other morning meetings that occur throughout the school year.
Other ways for parents to help...
*Look over daily classwork, notes, sample problems (in math composition book).
*Check Family Access on a regular basis.
*Don't give your child the answers instead encourage, prompt, and motivate. The purpose of assignments is for your child to practice the skills they are working on in class.
*Encourage your child to ask for help during class or to come in for help before school (make an appointment if possible).
*Visit sites like Khan Academy and Learn Zillion
*If all else fails Google it.
There will be additional resources available online... I'll update as soon as I have the current information about accessing the Pearson site.
Check with the Sammamish Public Library (#425-392-3130)... Free Math homework help can be available through the Study Zone volunteer tutoring program at the Sammamish Library across from Skyline High School.
