This week's job highlight is: Providence Marianwood
Providence Marianwood, provides comprehensive professional skilled nursing care including physical, emotional and spiritual care for the whole person. They take pride in giving compassionate care and services with dignity and respect for the individual, honoring personal choice and preferences.
Each week, our students will be visiting the recovery wing. They will be bringing leisure cart with them. They are responsible for knocking on the resident's doors, introduce themselves, and ask the residents if they would like anything from the leisure cart (options can include: crossword puzzles, magazines, newspapers, books, cards, games, etc), and then note down the option(s) the residents chose. Our students also stay and socialize with the residents if the residents desire a bit of companionship. It's a great opportunity for our students to practice a variety of social skills!
Thank you to Providence Marianwood, for providing our students with such a wonderful internship!

Greetings ACT Families,
We will be holding our annual:
ACT Program Family Picnic on Thursday, June 13, from 11:45am to 2:30pm at ACT.
We hope that many of you will be able to join us at this informal end-of-the-year event. Generally, families donate 1-3 food items for the picnic, and the ACT Program provides some of the basic items.
We will have a sandwich/salad bar. We will need sandwich fixings, side salad dishes, and a couple of deserts. ACT will supply dishes, napkins, eating utensils, drinks, and condiments. Please see the list below for items needed for this year’s event. What we would like you to do is chose what you’d like to bring, put your name by the item and send the e-mail back to Carolyn and me. I will compile everyone’s donation and send back the revised list. It is possible that someone may have signed up for your item, and if this happens, I’ll get back to you personally to suggest other items that we still need. If you have a special item you…
Hello ACT Families,
Every year we take the students to the Family Fun Center as an end of year play time with each other.
The activities that we participate in are video games, bumper cars, 4D short movie with simulator, Giant Swing, Bumper boats (with water squirter), Go Karts, Laser Tag, and mini golf.
The Go Kart activity has been one of the highlights that all students want to participate in. In years past we have had a few students drive the Go Karts. Recently some students
have expressed interest in wanting to drive.
We have 3 options to give to you regarding the Go Kart ride:
1. Staff drive your student only
2. Your student gets the opportunity to drive 1 time with a staff
3. Not going on the Go Karts at all
I want to give you these options to discuss with your student and to inform Myself and Carolyn in order for us to make the arrangements while at Family Fun Center.
Enjoy the SUN!!!!!
Dylan & Carolyn
We have started the first week of December with 2 1/2 weeks until Winter Break.
During this month we will be exploring Winter Holidays as our community activities and teaching the students how to shop and exchange gifts with other students.
The week of Dec. 3-7 we are discussing holiday decorations. Each student has been sharing what decoration is their favorite and what they do at home. They will participate in shopping for a snack and exploring the different decorations that is out in the community.
The week of Dec. 10-14 we are discussing the idea of shopping for others. What do students need to do to inform others of the things they need, like or want. What does it mean to buy for someone and give a gift? What feelings are involved in this activity? Friday December 14th the students will get a list of another students wish list and they will shop for another student, then wrap the gift.
On Monday December 17th students will be caroling at some Senior Centers in the…
ACT students will be working in Berensten Park in Issaquah spreading woodchips around existing trees on Thursday May 25th from 1:00pm-2:00pm. ACT students volunteer and give back to our local community at this annual service event.
Students need to bring a sack lunch to school and any gardening/work gloves. After our service work we will come back to ACT to enjoy a well earned treat!
Hi ACT Families:
It's mind-boggling that next week is the beginning of May! Please send $40 cash to school with your student for them to deposit in the ACT Bank.
Everyone will be going out for a sit down restaurant for lunch on Thursday May 4th. We will be talking about the actual location for each student with them through out the week. Ask them to tell you where they are going! The places that we are going include Red Robin and Las Margaritas!
Today was another busy fun filled day out in the community. We had groups go swimming, to a movie, bowling or pla and to Starbucks via Metro 200. Our students are fully engaged in the process of making choices for activities which gets them excited. The ACT students will continue to follow their monthly budget as each student dives into other opportunities for adventure during the coming weeks. We will be having more bowling and Starbuck groups as those seem to be the most popular, however we will be adding in some ice cream and frozen yogurt outings also.
