Dear Apollo Families,
As we near the end of October and our spotlight on Disabilities and Anti-Bullying Awareness, I want to take the opportunity to share some of the wonderful experiences we have had at Apollo. This month we hosted the Missoula Theater Co. and the students performed the Secret Garden on Friday October 19. This classic tale fit right in to our awareness of growing our Kindness and understanding of acceptance of others. We also hosted the author, of The Adventures of Frank and Mustard, Mr. Simon Calcavecchia. As a young rugby player, Simon broke his neck and has been wheelchair bound for his mobility for many years. The message he shared with our students, and through his stories, is that we should not ever give up, always strive to keep a growth mind set, stay positive, and find and pursue your passions! I wish you could have seen all the Apollo students completely engrossed in Simon’s story; it was every inspirational!
Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner December 6-7! Sign up for conferences on Family Access are linked below. Apollo's window to sign up for conferences is open until November 15th at 3:30pm. Links are in English and Spanish!
A few updates on the Apollo facility:
Apollo Resource Officer Cindy Hale is replacing Dave Montalvo after his many years of service to Apollo and the other south regional schools. I’m looking to have Officer Hale attend one of our family events to meet our community and hear your thoughts and concerns.
Apollo’s Fall Fundraiser “Rocket Fuel” will run October 22- November 2, 2018. Check out the PTA website for information of how to donate to Apollo PTA. LHS film students are accredited for filming and producing the fundraiser video that provides students with information about how to participate!
Our annual Reflections Contest is in full swing and student artwork is due October 29. The reception, with student artwork on display, is November 16 from 6-7 pm in Apollo’s Library.
