Veteran's Day Assemblies

We will be honoring our veterans at an assembly on Wednesday, November 6th at 9:45 - 10:15am. Assistant Principal, Vanessa Garcia, is preparing a special power point presentation which will include pictures of veterans who are special to our students. Please send photographs to Mrs. Garcia via email to GarciaV@issaquah.wednet.edu no later than Monday, November 4th. If you sent a picture and it was used in last year’s presentation, you don’t need to send another this year.

Please include:

  • The name of the veteran
  • The student’s name and teacher (or names if there are siblings at Apollo)
  • The relationship of the veteran to the student (grandparent, uncle, mother, etc…)
  • The branch of service in which the veteran served
  • The years in which the veteran served

If you have special veterans in your family who live nearby (or if you are a veteran!), please invite them to our assemblies so we can honor them in person!

Highly Capable Program Screening for Kindergarten Students

Letters were recently sent home to the families of all kindergarten students who are enrolled in the Issaquah School District. These letters detail the process that will be used to identify Issaquah’s “most highly capable” kindergarteners. Student screening will be November 5 through 7. Students who are identified as “most highly capable” will be invited to enter the Primary Enrichment Program (PEP) later in the school year. Students living within the Issaquah School District’s boundaries, but attending private or home-based schools may participate in screening. Contact your neighborhood school for more information. Are you registered to vote? A quick way to check and register online for 11/5 Election

Ballots for the November 5 election are being mailed out to registered voters on October 18, 2019! Do you know if you are registered to vote? If you’ve recently moved or changed your name (or just haven’t voted in a while), you probably need to re-register to vote. And, because general elections usually happen only once a year, it’s understandable if you’re not totally clear on your voter status or if you remembered to update your registration after your last big life event. Even if you’re pretty sure you have, there’s no harm in taking a minute to double-check and there is an easy way to find out! Simply follow this link to the VoteWA website and enter your name and birthday. It will verify your status, and offer you the opportunity to update your information if need be. October 28 is the deadline to use the online registration, but you can still register in person up to November 5. All of the details are on the VoteWA.gov website! You can also find important details about the November 5, 2019 General Election at King County’s Election Website.
