Holiday Book Drive

The 2019 Holiday season is almost here and starting on Friday, November 1st, the downtown Bellevue Barnes & Noble will start their Holiday Book Drive for a local school or library. This year Apollo Elementary School has been chosen as the recipient!

What is a Holiday Book Drive? It is awesome! Our school will be the recipient of books (lots of books!) or items purchased by customers in the store during the holiday season. The book drive runs for two whole months, until January 1st. Please stop by the downtown Bellevue Barnes & Noble this holiday season to check it out!

Is Your Family Protected From The Flu?

Have you and your family gotten this year’s influenza (“flu”) shot yet? It’s the best way to protect yourselves from getting and spreading the flu. People can pass flu germs to others before they even know they’re sick. The flu causes fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and headache. A typical flu illness can cause a student to miss a week or more of school.

The flu can be serious even in people who are usually healthy, but it can be especially dangerous for children who have certain health conditions such as asthma, seizure disorders, or diabetes. School-aged children are more likely to catch the flu than others and spread it to their family members.

Flu vaccine is available at no cost for all children 6 months through 18 years of age in Washington State. There may be a fee to administer the shot, but it must be excused for families who are unable to cover the cost.

For help finding a health care provider, call the WithinReach Family Health Hotline at 1-800-322-2588. Many pharmacies also provide vaccine services and will bill your insurance carrier. Visit HealthMap Vaccine Finder at https://vaccinefinder.org/ and enter your zip code for flu vaccine availability near you.

Let’s keep ourselves, our families, and our Apollo community healthy this flu season – and get vaccinated against the flu!
