School Information

Hi Families,

As a culminating project from our first Social Studies unit, our 2nd graders are putting on a New and Gently Used Stuffed Animal Drive. This drive will run from January 14th- January 25th. In our Social Studies unit, the children learned that everyone can make a difference in their community and be a good citizen by giving back. The stuffed animals will be donated to Eastside Fire and Rescue, as they use stuffed animals to comfort children in emergency situations. Students are creating their own plans to make this a success and we encourage every child to find a stuffed animal to donate. Thank you for your support!

ATTENTION PARENTS OF 5TH GRADERS TRANSITIONING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL

IN THE FALL OF 2019

SUMMER TIME = SPORTS PHYSICAL TIME

Will your student be participating in the sports programs offered at middle school?  If so, mark your calendar and plan to get their sports physical during the summer.   Students entering 6th and 9th grade are required to have a physical dated after June 1.   A physical date in the summer is valid for the entire school year.  If you normally schedule your child’s physical around their birthday, we suggest you consider postponing until summer.  Fifth grade students getting their physical while in the 5th grade will be required to get a second physical dated after June 1 if they want to participate in middle school sports.   For more information on middle school sports and the required physical form check out the ISD Middle School Sports webpage or call the middle school office.  The office team will answer all your questions.

THANK YOU

A HUGE thank you to the families and students that supported the PTA/5th Grade Fundraisers! They have been successful on many levels. Both, monetarily and in strengthening student relationships.

A special shout out to the Mitchell, Vander Mey, Lee and Haapala families for helping to organize these events.

PTA BOX TOP COLLECTION

Our next box top turn in deadline in February 15th, so please continue to turn in box tops. Collection sheets can be found on the PTA board just inside the main school doors. Or, just put them into a Ziploc bag with the name of your child's teacher on the bag. For your convenience, there is a collection box in the office.

The class that turns in the most box tops by the deadline will be awarded coupons for a free frozen yogurt at TCBY. So, start saving your box tops today!

The Superintendent has created a draft interpretation and invites the community to provide input into this interpretation. Once the Superintendent is satisfied with the interpretation, he and his team will begin to collect the evidence that must be brought forward for monitoring purposes. The ISD Board of Directors is scheduled to perform its first monitoring of EL-16 at the January 23, 2019 school board meeting.

The Draft Interpretation of EL-16 is available for review or download on our website at https://www.issaquah.wednet.edu/district/equity/el-16-equity
