As a culminating project from our first Social Studies unit, our 2nd graders are putting on a New and Gently Used Stuffed Animal Drive.
This drive will run from January 14th- January 25th. In our Social Studies unit, the children learned that everyone can make a difference in their community and be a good citizen by giving back. The stuffed animals will
be donated to Eastside Fire and Rescue, as they use stuffed animals to comfort children in emergency situations. Students are creating their own plans to make this a success and we encourage every child to find a stuffed animal to donate. Thank you for your
ATTENTION PARENTS OF 5TH GRADERS TRANSITIONING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL
IN THE FALL OF 2019
SUMMER TIME = SPORTS PHYSICAL TIME
Will your student be participating in the sports programs offered at middle school? If so, mark your calendar and plan to get their sports physical during the summer. Students entering 6th and 9th grade
are required to have a physical dated after June 1. A physical date in the summer is valid for the entire school year. If you normally schedule your child’s physical around their birthday, we suggest you consider postponing until summer. Fifth grade students
getting their physical while in the 5th grade will be required to get a second physical dated after June 1 if they want to participate in middle school sports. For more information on middle school sports and the required physical form check out
the ISD Middle School Sports webpage or call the middle school office. The office team will answer all your questions.

The Golden Acorn Award: is awarded to PTA volunteers who go above and beyond in their service to a school community.
The Outstanding Educator Award: is awarded to a teacher or staff member who makes significant contributions that enhance the education of students.

Recipients will be announced at the short ceremony on Friday, April 19th at 3:50pm in the MPR. Please join us in celebrating our fabulous volunteers and educators.

PTA BOX TOP COLLECTION
Our next box top turn in deadline in February 15th, so please continue to turn in box tops. Collection sheets can be found on the PTA board just inside the main school doors. Or, just put them into a Ziploc bag with the name of your child's teacher on the
bag. For your convenience, there is a collection box in the office.
The class that turns in the most box tops by the deadline will be awarded coupons for a free frozen yogurt at TCBY. So, start saving your box tops today!

Welcome to ISD for incoming K Parent Events 2019-2020:
Welcome to the Issaquah School District 2019-2020 Kindergarten Families. Please join us for this event designed for families new to the US Public Schools to learn more about the ISD Kindergarten program. All parents and caregivers
of kindergarten students for the 2019-2020 school year are invited to attend. ISD staff will provide information on topics such as kindergarten preparedness, kindergarten school day schedule and other school and classroom information. ISD staff and Family
Partnership Team volunteers will be available to answer questions.

WHAT: Showcase of STEM learning hosted by teachers and students from the Issaquah School District. Teachers and students through interactive booths and demonstrations share how they learn STEM skills and knowledge
through classroom projects, afterschool clubs, and student competitions. In addition to teacher/student booths, there will be various STEM related industries invited to share their work in the area of STEM.

Open Enrollment Begins February 1
Per ISD Regulation 3131 regarding In-District Student Transfers, students
and their parent(s)/guardian(s) may apply to transfer to any District school other than their neighborhood school during open enrollment through the month of February for the following school year. For

The 18th Annual Father-Daughter Valentine Dance is coming up on
Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the Issaquah Community Center. Girls, grades K-2, and an accompanying adult are invited to the first dance, 4:00-6:00pm. Girls, grades 3-5, are invited to the 7:00-9:00pm event. $26/couple; $22/couple for Issaquah

Teen Trips is making its way to the
Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Game on Sunday, January 27 from 3:30-8:00pm! Meet at the Issaquah Community Center and Issaquah Parks & Recreation staff will provide transportation
to the ShoWare Center. Bring money for concessions or bring a sack dinner. Enjoy the long weekend, cheer on the T-Birds and receive a free Seattle Thunderbirds hat at the game! $24; $20 for Residents.
