Creekside Library Volunteer Training

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING In the Creekside Library?

If you enjoy working with students and have time during the school day to come in and help, we would love to have you join us as a library volunteer this school year! The weekly volunteer shifts are one hour long. Swing by the library before or after Meet the Teacher (next Tuesday morning) to sign up as a library volunteer.

Volunteer Trainings - Required for all new volunteers - Will take place on Curriculum Night/s

Kindergarten parents Thursday 9/5 6:30 – 7:15 pm

1st & 2nd grade parents Wednesday 9/11 5:45 – 6:30 pm

3rd, 4th & 5th grade parents Wednesday 9/11 7:00 – 7:45 pm

** Volunteers must complete a new volunteer background clearance each school year and have it approved by the district before their first volunteer shift. Please visit: https://issaquahvolunteers.hrmplus.net/ to complete the process. Tip: At the end of the application, it will ask you to scan your driver’s license. If you do not have a scanner, you can take a picture of your driver’s license with your phone and add it electronically to the system. Thank you for considering volunteering in the library. The students always enjoy having parent volunteers during their library time each week!

Highly Capable Referral Window Now Open

The Highly Capable Program Referral Window is Open September 1st through September 15th

Referrals of students to determine possible eligibility for the Highly Capable Program will be accepted online beginning September 1 through September 15.

*Please note, all kindergarten students will be screened this fall to determine eligibility for further testing for possible selection into the Highly Capable program.

The District’s referral procedure may include screening procedures as allowed by state statute. Please go to the Highly Capable website for further information and to access the online referral questionnaire and referral form. Individuals making a referral must use the District provided online referral form. The following exceptions will apply:

  1. Referrals will not be accepted for students who were tested for the Highly Capable Program in the previous school year.
  2. Referrals for second grade students will not be accepted as testing for these students will occur mid-year.
  3. Referrals for students new to the district who enroll after September 15 will be accepted for ten (10) school days from the enrollment date.
  4. Students new to the district enrolling after the Highly Capable fall testing window who meet the screening criteria will be assessed prior to the beginning of the next school year.
Students may be referred by individuals including teachers, other staff, parents, and members of the community.

  • Friday, August 30th at 5:00PM: Teacher (Advisor) Names will be available on your student's Family Access page
  • Tuesday, September 3rd: Meet & Greet the Teacher Day
    • Last Names A through M: 10:00 to 10:30
    • Last Names N through Z: 11:00 to 11:30
  • Wednesday, September 4th: First day of School for 1st through 5th grades
  • Wednesday, September 4th - Friday, September 6th: Kindergarten Family Connection Meetings (signups were sent last week via email - please contact Dolores (425-837-5203) if you did not receive an email invite.
  • Thursday, September 5th: Kindergarten Curriculum Night @ 5:30 to 6:30 pm (this is a parent ONLY event)
  • Monday, September 9th: First day of School for Kindergarten
  • Wednesday, September 11th: 1st-5th Curriculum Night (this is a parent ONLY event)
    • Grades 3—5 @ 6 to 6:30 pm
    • Parent Meeting with PTSA and the Principal @ 6:35 to 6:55 pm
    • Grades 1—2 @ 7 to 7:30 pm
  • Thursday, September 19th: Student Picture Day! More info coming from LifeTouch Photo Studio
  • October 4th - 11th: PTSA's HAWK-A-THON Fundraiser (more details from PTSA to follow)
