Read Across America helps motivate kids with the joys of reading, and to make all children feel valued and welcome.
Librarians and classroom teachers will be read a book per day which help students see themselves reflected in, as well as show readers a world or a character that might be different from them. Students who feel included, recognized and a part of the world are engaged readers.
In addition to the read alouds…
· Classes will have a number of Stop Drop & Read events.
· Back by popular demand is our optional National Day of Unplugging, March 6-7th. Look for the participation form to come home with your child next Friday, March 6th.

Our Creekside Otters and Staff would like to thank our Creekside PTSA for sponsoring the student assemblies, writing workshops and evening family event presented by Simon Calcavecchia, author and disability awareness advocate.
Students and teachers found his messages on positive attitude, thinking about “What You Can Do, not What You Can’t Do”, “Find Your Passion” and “Including All- no matter their circumstances” so inspiring!
Don’t forget, Frank and Mustard have their own Youtube channel! We can’t wait for their next book to be published in the next few months. Thank you PTSA!
While the immediate risk to the general public in Washington and the United States is still considered to be low, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all travelers from China, including school students, staff, and volunteers arriving in the U.S. AFTER February 2, 2020 at 2 pm stay at home away from others and monitor their health for 14 days. If you get a fever or develop a cough or difficulty breathing during this 14-day period, avoid contact with others. Call your doctor or healthcare provider to tell them about your symptoms and your recent travel.
There is no recommendation for people showing no symptoms arriving before this time to restrict their activities. All travelers from China who arrived BEFORE February 2, 2020 at 2pm can continue to attend school.
The normal precautions during cold and flu season to prevent the spread of germs apply.
