Please mark your calendar:

Last week for checking out books:

May 20th-24th.  ALL books are due May 31st.

We will give verbal/paper reminders the following week and fines will be posted June 12th. Due to district policy, unpaid fines will result in your child's report card being held in the office.

Books need to be turned in early so that we may begin our library inventory.  However, library classes will be held until the end of the school year.

December Update

During conferences, you will be updated about your child's Fountas and Pinnell reading level.  If you'd like to help your child look for books that are his/her level in the Creekside Catalog at home, please see the directions to the left.  Remember also comprehension is key...it isn't just about reading the words fluently. :>)

Kinders continue to learn how to use their shelf marker correctly to find books on the shelves.

First grade classes are talking quite a bit about a 'just right fit' book and finding it independently (alphabetically) on the shelves.

Try using the Five Finger Rule with your child.

Pick a book and open it to any page. Start reading. Hold up a finger for every word you don't know.

  • 0-1 The book is too easy.
  • 4-5 The book is too hard.  Try reading it with a buddy.
  • 2-3 The book is JUST RIGHT
