MIDDLE SCHOOL REGISTRATION PACKETS!Yesterday you may have noticed that your student brought home a packet with information about choosing classes for next year. I briefly talked about the packet with the students, but I told them it was their job to talk it over at home with you. Choosing the classes they will take next year is a big decision and should be made together as a family. You have until Thursday the 21st to return these to me, but I highly recommend that you wait until after next Monday to fill them out. Next Monday, the 18th, we are taking the 5th graders over to Pine Lake Middle School in the morning to get a tour, hear from some students, and learn a little more about classes. This could help them make a decision on what electives sound most appealing to them and what classes would be the best fit. Also that night at 6:30, there is a parent night that you can attend. They will talk with you about how to know if your students is ready for an advanced path, how to best help them with the transition to middle school, and much more. If you have not had a student go through middle school yet, I strongly recommend that you attend the parent night, this way both you and your student can make an informed decision that is best for them. I will also be holding “office hours” next week on Tuesday (3:45-4:30) and Wednesday (1:45-4:00) after school. They would be quick meetings (5-10 minutes) to discuss what your thoughts are for classes next year. Let me know if this is something you are interested in and we can set up a time.
