Thinking about next year's classroom placement already? It’s hard to believe that in just a few short weeks we will begin the important job of creating balanced classes for next year. As we approach this task, we ask our Endeavour community for the trust and flexibility needed to meet the needs of all students. Our wonderful staff spends significant time assessing the needs, strengths and challenges of each child. Special Education staff first meets together to carefully place special needs students with teachers. Then, teachers from each grade level work together as a team to discuss and develop heterogeneous groups based on the information presented. Multiple factors are considered in the process of developing classes. We consider, but are not limited to:
The program needs of the student A class balance of achievement levels in reading, writing, and math The social needs of students and their leadership skills Behavior factors The compatibility of students with each other The ratio of boys to girls Equity of class size Independent work habits of students Recommendations of school staff
In the Issaquah Schools, we ask that parents do not request a specific teacher. You may, however, share additional information to further assist us in this placement process. Parents may pick up a Parent Input Form in our school office starting Wednesday, April 3rd and forms must be turned in to the school office by Wednesday, May 1st.
Examples of the kind of information that can help in configuring classes include: changing family dynamics which could impact the classroom, newly diagnosed or potential learning difficulties, specific learning styles, peer relationships in or out of school, and any other factors which we might be unaware of that relate to your child’s learning. Please note we do not accept input that specifies individual teachers by gender, experience level or name.
Lost and Found As the weather has warmed up, jackets, sweaters and sweatshirts are coming off. We have many articles of clothing that will be donated on April 3rd at the end of the school day. Remember that if your child's name is on the item, it will be returned to them.
