Are you moving this summer?
If your student(s) will not be attending Grand Ridge next year, please let the office know as soon as possible. Also, please be sure to update the office if you have moved or changed your contact information so we have the correct information on file.

Early registration is very important as we plan staffing and allocate resources for the new school year.

Family Trips During Assessment Windows
As we have done in the past, family trips taken during assessment windows will be marked as Unexcused. This is because the data collected during these assessments informs our practice and supports your child's learning. Naturally, our preference is for families
to travel during vacation periods outlined by the ISD. If your family needs to travel outside of those windows, please be aware of two things:
1) Absences during assessment windows are marked as unexcused
2) Per State law:
Things to note:
Smarter Balanced Assessments - Practice Opportunities at Home
We are encouraging all families to set aside some time to help your student practice for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) coming this May for grades 3, 4 & 5. The Smarter Balanced Assessment is a system of valid, reliable, and fair next-generation assessments
aligned to the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts/Literacy & Math. Please use the following link to access the Practice & Training Tests (for ELA, Math and WCAS (5th grade science - see below):
Click on the icon for Practice & Training Tests, sign in as a Guest, and select your child's grade level when prompted.
Along with the SBA, fifth grade students will also take an additional assessment in science, called the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). The WCAS will assess all three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards. For more information
about this assessment follow this link: http://www.k12.wa.us/Science/Assessments.aspx
If you have additional questions about the Smarter Balanced ASsessment, please see the ISD website https://www.issaquah.wednet.edu/academics/assessment/SBA
or contact Jennifer Sehlin, Assistant Principal.

Parents of 5th grade girls:
I’m excited to let you know that we will be starting an “I Am That Girl” group after camp. This group will focus on building a safe and supportive community where we can be our authentic selves and where we all lift each other up. We will meet on Wednesdays
during lunch and recess until the end of the year. All 5th grade girls are welcome! Please watch your email for more details and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Grand Ridge Parents!
Now that Mandy Pittingoro, our Student Support Coach, is on maternity leave, we want to introduce you to Nicole Perriella-Rehmke and Stephanie Wright. They will be covering for Mandy for the rest of the school year, supporting teachers and students. Stephanie
will be in the building on Mondays and Tuesdays. Nicole will be in on Thursday afternoons and Fridays.
I’m passionate about social-emotional learning, language development and teacher self-care. I taught kindergarten for 2 years in Medellin, Colombia, and Spanish Immersion (second and fifth grade) for 10 years in the Bellevue School District. Now I’m a 0.5
PBSES Coach at Beaver Lake Middle School. I love working with teachers to improve and grow their craft.
I am thrilled to be back at Grand Ridge El. where I was the Student Support Coach (now titled Positive Behavior Social Emotional Support Coach) for three years before heading over to Creekside El. this school year. Before this role, I was an Elementary
Teacher, Instructional Coach, and SEL Curriculum Developer in Bellevue School District. I love supporting teachers and students with classroom management strategies and behavioral interventions and especially helping in classrooms.
Fun fact: Nicole and I met at the University of Washington and have stayed in touch since college. :)
