DIVE Orientation:

Calling all Dads and Dudes of IVE! Are you interested in helping out at recess as a volunteer? Come join us, Monday, December 10th from 7:00-830pm for our next DIVE orientation. The orientation is a prerequisite for participation in the program, along with a standard school district background check. We hope to see you there! A reminder for the K-2nd Graders who are participants in the PTA Holiday Choir:

  • Performance with Cougar Chorus: Thursday, December 13, IVE MPR 6:30pm

TechnoSmart Kids: Scratch Coding- Intermediate Level (Grades 3-5)

Learning how to code isn’t just a helpful skill, it’s becoming a requirement for success. When kids learn to code in Scratch, they learn important strategies and logic for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas. Classes offered at IVE on Wednesdays from 1:45-2:45pm. Duration: Jan 9th-Feb 27th. Register at: www.technosmartkids.com     

 

Crimson Canvas Arts: Focus on Perspective and 3D Drawing (Grades 3-5)

Students will learn the following skills: Drawing fundamentals - perspective and angles/3D, practice 1-Point vs. 2-Point perspective, how to sight angles and place them correctly, how to measure relationships of height and width, 3D drawing from multiple angles and perspective that applies to landscape drawings, buildings and still life. Classes offered at IVE on Fridays from 3:45-4:45pm. Duration: January 4th-March 15th. Register at: crimsoncanvasarts.com

 

Coding with Kids: Little Coders (Grades K-2)

The Little Coders class will provide young students with the basics of computational thinking skills, such as loops and conditionals, through a fun blend of hands-on activities. The curriculum is built specifically for this age group, with a mix of activities from coding puzzles and board games to easy-to-use, drag and drop programming tools. Classes offered Mondays from 3:45-4:45pm. Duration: January 28th-March 25th. Register at: codingwithkids.com/session/9135.

 

Museo Art Academy: Exploring Clay (Grades K-5)

The simple nature of clay allows for important artistic discovery in even the youngest students. Working in a variety of clay types, students will learn techniques to construct unique sculptures while expanding their artistic comprehension of form, shape, space, texture, balance, unity and more. Classes offered onTuesdays from 3:45-4:45pm. Duration: Six weeks sessions from January 8th-May 21st. Register at: museoart.com/ive

 

Parents Night Out at Karate West: 

Do your kids need a guaranteed night of fun without their parents? Do you need a guaranteed night out without your kids? Drop your kids at Parents Night Out at Karate West and support the IVE PTA! Next PNO is Friday January 4th, 6-9pm. The cost is $35 per child and includes pizza dinner and supervised activities. ParentWiser Presents - DIGITAL SAFETY 101

Jo Langford, youth behavior expert for technology and sex education, reveals where kids spend and sneak their online time and how parents can monitor it for positive outcomes. Discuss the most current popular sites, and learn how to start the important conversations with kids' relationships to themselves, friends and their vast digital world. For parents of grades 3-12, register at https://www.parentwiser.org/events for Wed, Jan 9th at 7pm at Skyline High School Theater. Note: this is a parent-only event due to mature themes.

 

IVE Spirit Night at Red Robin! Yummmm!

Join us on January 10th at Red Robin Issaquah! 20% of our fundraising sales will go back to Issaquah Valley PTA. So the more people who attend, the more money we will earn. We’ll see you there! PTA General Meeting Childcare:

Helping with childcare will ensure a larger turn out at our PTA Meetings with more adult voices for our students. We are required to have 2 adults in the room at all times. We have Middle School student volunteers signing up to help as well. Remaining meetings for the year will occur on the following Tuesdays at 7:00pm: January 22, March 14, and May 21. -March General Membership Meeting date has changed. We will now be holding the meeting on Thursday, March 14th at 7pm in the IVE Library.
