A Festive Food Drive
The 2nd graders have been learning about being global citizens, and would like the students at IVE to have an opportunity to help people in our own community. We want everyone at our school to know that even though we are young, we
can help others! We are having a Festive Food Drive! We will be collecting items for the food bank that are in high demand during the winter holiday season…think yummy family dinners and treats! We will be collecting items through December 7th.
You will be taking home a note today with lots of ideas of things you can bring. There will be boxes in the hallways to put your donations in. Thank you for helping us help others!! - 2nd Grade Team
Elementary Conference Scheduler – NOW OPEN
Parent-Teacher Conferences are December 5 and 6. Parents will use Family Access Conference Scheduler to sign up for conferences. Conference Scheduler is now open and will close on November 30th at 3:30 p.m. Log onto your Family Access

Dual Language Program Information Nights
The Dual Language Program will be provided at Clark Elementary and
Issaquah Valley Elementary Schools and open to students living in these attendance areas. This year, informational meetings, provided in both English and Spanish, will be held at Clark Elementary and Issaquah Valley Elementary and additional
locations to assist families in learning more about the program. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend one of the following:

Winter Weather is Coming – Snow Day, Snow Stops, and Emergency Notification Information for 2018-19
An Emergency Transportation Bulletin was sent out in late October for the ISD for the 2018-19 school year. This mailer included information on snow routes and emergency stops, as well as program cancellations and schedule changes due to inclement
weather. The bulletin also included information on communication of school delays or closure.
An electronic copy of the Emergency Transportation Bulletin can be found on the district website here.
School closures and delays are announced early in the morning, usually between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. If you anticipate emergency transportation conditions, please check for an announcement on TV, radio, or the Internet.

Holiday Gift Barn
The “Holiday Gift Barn” is a holiday gift program for Issaquah School District families with children ages birth-18. Like last year,
Pickering Barn will become a “department store” for families in need to do their holiday shopping. Childcare will be available if needed.

Flu causes more hospitalizations among young children than any other vaccine-preventable disease. The single best way to protect against seasonal flu and its potential severe complications is for children to get a seasonal influenza vaccine each year. You
can help stop the flu by taking EVERYDAY PREVENTATIVE PRECAUTIONS.
What are everyday preventive actions?
Head lice is a common childhood nuisance. Early identification and treatment are essential to reducing the spread of head lice. Please check your child’s head every 7-10 days for the presence of lice. Things to look for:
If you find signs of head lice, (live lice and/or nits/eggs), please notify the School Nurse:

Cougar Campaign Update
With 3 weeks remaining for the PTA Cougar Campaign we have raised approximately $6,000 toward our goal of $25,000. We need your help now more than ever! Please donate and share our online campaign on your social media channels

IVE PTA Movie Night Featuring Incredibles 2 – November 30th
Join us Friday November 30th in the MPR for Incredibles 2! Doors open at 5:30pm and the movie starts at 6:00pm. Bring your favorite picnic or take-out, blankets and low-backed chairs. We will also be collecting non-perishable food for the Issaquah Food Bank.
Candy, Pirate's Booty and water will be available for $1 each.
Note: Incredibles 2 contains a sequence of flashing lights which may affect participants with photo sensitivities.

Highly Capable Program- Parent Engagement Group (HCP-PEG)
Are you interested in supporting students and families who are in the Highly Capable Program in the Issaquah School District? The ISD Highly Capable department is facilitating the formation of a parent group whose initial purpose is to enrich the lives
of the students and families who receive Highly Capable services. The group will offer support in gathering information and input from families as well as support enrichment through community events, parent education, and a newsletter! For further information,

Bus Drivers Needed – We’re Hiring!
As many people have seen and heard in the news, schools all across the country are experiencing a shortage of school bus drivers. This is true in the Issaquah School District as well. The ISD offers paid training and a competitive wage of up to $24.91/hour.
Drivers may work part time or up to 40 hours. Full benefits include medical, dental, and vision. Drivers work a school calendar and schedule. If you or someone you know is interested, please call 425-837-6327 for more information or

Community Input Sought on Draft Interpretation of EL-16 Equity Policy
The Superintendent has created a draft interpretation and invites the community to provide input into this interpretation. Once the Superintendent is satisfied with the interpretation, he and his team will begin to collect the evidence that must be
brought forward for monitoring purposes. The ISD Board of Directors is scheduled to perform its first monitoring of EL-16 at the January 23, 2019 school board meeting.
