Camp update!

The IVE PTA, in partnership with 5th grade teachers and Principal Pickard, has formed a committee of fifth grade parents to research and plan a one day outdoor day camp experience for later in the year.  If approved, the day camp field trip will be run through the school district with money gifted from the PTA. We look forward to this outdoor adventure for our fifth graders!

Enrichment Program Opportunities:

The IVE PTA organizes and offers after school programs to enrich the school experience. Please see below for our newest two winter offerings or go to http://ivepta.org/Page/Programs/Enrichment%20Programs for more information on all of our winter enrichment programs. If partial/full scholarship is needed for any of the enrichment programs, please contact president@ivepta.org

Bricks 4 Kidz: Creative Engineering (Grades K-3)

Our programs provide an extraordinary atmosphere for students to build unique creations, play games, and have loads of fun using LEGO bricks. The activities are designed to trigger young children’s lively imaginations and build their self-confidence. Classes offered at IVE on Thursdays from 3:45-4:45pm. Duration: January 17-March 28. Register at: bricks4kidz.com/issaquah

Young Rembrandts: Winter Drawing (Grades K-5)

Your child will learn basic design and composition as they draw a boot still life and a detailed armadillo. If your child is fond of sports, they will enjoy drawing a hockey player. More refined and technical drawing techniques will be explored as our students draw the historical Model T automobile. Besides strengthening your child’s drawing and coloring skills, they will also learn about art history. Classes offered at IVE on Wednesdays from 1:40-2:40pm. Duration: January 9-April 3. Register at: https://www.youngrembrandts.com/seattleeastside

Parents Night Out at Karate West:

Does your New Year's Resolution include spending more adult time together while still allowing your kids to have a blast? Sign up for Parents Night Out at Karate West and support the IVE PTA! Next PNO is next Friday January 4th, 6-9pm. The cost is $35 per child and includes pizza dinner and supervised activities. Select IVE when you register here: https://www.gevme.com/karate-west-parents-night-out-2018

ParentWiser presents: Digital Safety 101

Jo Langford, youth behavior expert for technology and sex education, reveals where kids spend and sneak their online time and how parents can monitor it for positive outcomes. Discuss the most current popular sites, and learn how to start the important conversations with kids' relationships to themselves, friends and their vast digital world. For parents of grades 3-12, register at https://www.parentwiser.org/events for Wed, Jan 9th at 7pm at Skyline High School Theater. Note: this is a parent-only event due to mature themes.

IVE Spirit Night at Red Robin! Yummmm!

Join us on January 10th at Red Robin Issaquah! 20% of our fundraising sales will go back to Issaquah Valley PTA. So the more people who attend, the more money we will earn. We’ll see you there! Make sure you mention our fundraiser so your sales get applied to our IVE PTA. Visit redrobin.com/fundraisers for more information on Red Robin’s fundraising programs.

Save the Date! Pancake Dinner and Game Night!

Please join us for our next IVE Community Event on January 25th from 6:00-8:00pm in the IVE MPR. More information coming soon.

PTA Budget Committee

Are you interested in helping to form the PTA Budget for the 2019-2020 school year? The PTA Board is seeking 3-5 volunteers for the PTA Budget Committee. The Committee is expected to meet 3-4 times at IVE from 6-8pm on the following dates: Tuesday January 15, Monday February 11, Tuesday March 26 and Tuesday April 16. If you are interested, please email treasurer@ivepta.org no later than Friday January 11.

PTA Nomination Committee

Are you interested in being a part of the nomination committee? The charge of the nominating committee is to recognize and recruit the most qualified people available for elected IVE PTA Board positions. It is required that the nominating committee shall consist of three members. Members of the nominating committee must be elected by the members of the IVE PTA. Committee work includes holding confidential meetings, reviewing nominations, interviewing candidates, and searching for the best qualified candidates for our Executive Board positions. The nominating committee is not charged with filling the non-elected positions on the IVE PTA board of directors. When their work is complete, this committee provides a written report to the membership that names qualified nominees for the elected positions on the PTA board of directors.

Effective candidates for nominating committee:

  • Are familiar with the needs and goals of the PTA
  • Are enthusiastic about the mission, vision, and goals of the PTA
  • Are willing to work and devote considerable time to furthering the purposes and programs of the PTA
  • Possess tact, integrity, discretion, and the ability to hold their own counsel.
  • Have the courage to express their ideas and defend their convictions.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and skill in evaluating potential nominees.
  • Are capable of understanding and maintaining complete confidentiality.
  • Should be elected on merit and ability – never on popularity.

Members of the nominating committee are eligible to become nominees for elected office. Thus, committee members cannot be deprived of the right to hold office by being elected to the nominating committee. No person may serve on this committee for more than two consecutive one-year terms. A candidate for the nominating committee must be a member of the IVE PTA. Please contact secretary@ivepta.org if you are interested in serving on the nomination committee. We will be electing this committee at our January 22nd General Membership meeting.
