Quick Links for Parents:

Dear Families,

At this time of year, we are reminded of the important things in life. Time with families ranks high on that list. On behalf of our staff, I am wishing you a restful long weekend. We appreciate the time you dedicate to your children and to our school. The partnership we have with you is a gift we greatly appreciate. If you are staying home, enjoy! If you are traveling, travel safely.

Take care,

Leslie

                                                  ATTENDANCE

As we head into a busy holiday period, please remember we need to know, before an absence, if you are taking your child out of school or away on vacation.

If your student will miss one or two days of school, please email the office at SHAttendance@issaquah.wednet.edu with the following information: student name, teacher, dates of absence and reason for absence.  If you’re going to be gone three consecutive schools days or more, you need to fill out the appropriate form below and return it to the office one week prior to the first day of the absence.

If you’re going to be gone more than 2, but less than 20, days use this form:

https://connect.issaquah.wednet.edu/elementary/cascade/parents/m/cascade-parent-forms/316074

If you’re going to be gone more than 20 days use this form:

https://connect.issaquah.wednet.edu/elementary/cascade/parents/m/cascade-parent-forms/316075

Remember, it is nice to let your child's teacher know as a courtesy if your child will not be at school, however it is  the office that tracks official student attendance.

From Nurse Rocco: Head Lice

Head lice is a common childhood nuisance. Early identification and treatment are essential to reducing the spread of head lice.  Please check your child’s head every 7-10 days for the presence of lice.  Things to look for:

  • Observing your child for signs of itching
  • Inspecting your child’s scalp for lice (very small living insects which are often hard to see and range from gray to black in color)
  • Inspecting your child’s hair for nits. Nits are tiny, smooth, oval eggs which can vary in color from white to yellowish-white to dark brown. Nits resemble small flakes of dandruff, however, unlike dandruff; they are glued firmly at an angle to the side of a single hair shaft.
  • Nits are frequently seen at the nape of the neck and behind the ears, but can also be found anywhere on the head.

If you find signs of head lice, (live lice and/or nits/eggs), please notify the School Nurse.~ Kim Rocco RN, School Nurse 425-837-7408
