It is hard to believe that I am writing to you today to share that I will be leaving Sunny Hills at the end of this school year. For the last six years, I have had the honor of serving
as your principal.
With nearly 30 years in education (25 of them right here in Issaquah), I have decided to accept a position at an educational company called BER. When the opportunity was presented to me
to work with teachers across the nation to develop their capacity and impact on students, I was both excited and torn. This unique opportunity has been a dream of mine for a long time. After many hours of consulting with my family, I knew that this was an
opportunity to round out my career before I retire.
Words cannot express the joy I have felt as our school’s principal. I am proud of what we have accomplished together as a learning community and am grateful for all I have learned at Sunny
Hills while working with such tremendous students, staff and families. I will spend the remainder of the year making sure we finish strong and tucking away as many memories as I can squeeze into my heart. You will always be a significant part of my life.
I know that the Issaquah School District will be working quickly to find an amazing new principal for Sunny Hills who will bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to this great school.
I will do everything I can to make this a smooth transition and I will miss everyone in our community.
With deep gratitude,
Leslie Lederman, Principal
Sunny Hills Elementary
