September Newsletter

Prior to this school year, elementary school counselors held both responsibilities of the School Counselor and the PBSES Coach. This year, the role has been split into two full - time positions. Celina Schulenberg is the full-time School Counselor, and Julie Harding is the full- time PBSES Coach. Please click the link for clarification of roles and responsibilities Here.

New Student Welcome Lunch

The new students at Sunny Hills were invited to a new student lunch in my office. They met other new students, did an activity, and took a Sunny Hills bracelet home!

Counselor Intro Lesson

During the month of September, I go into all of the classrooms to introduce myself and my role to the students.

  • Kinder -1st  Activity called  “What is in my Tool Bag”. Each item in my bag helps me do my job and explains to the students what my role is (i.e. a heart to care for students, ears for listening, breathing ball to help students calm down when needed, etc.)
  • 2nd - 5thThe book: “Mrs. Joyce Gives the Best High Fives”.

*Students also learned how to meet with me through filling out an “I need to see the counselor form” and putting it in my mailbox.
