Hello Families,

Happy Monday! I hope you all had restful and fun weekends! It sounds like they were action packed from sharing at morning meeting today. I want to give you a heads up on a lot of things that are happening at school over the next 9 days. I honestly can’t believe we are this far into the school year!

Curriculum Updates:

Overall we are wrapping up 4th grade curriculum. We will take our final math test on Wednesday and spend the remainder of the year making math board games. In reading/social studies we are researching social issue concerns we have in Washington state such as pollution, homelessness, etc. In writing we are creating our own comic books!

We will also be doing some reflection on the school year and thinking about things we hope for next year in 5th grade!

Upcoming Events and Info (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

  1. Thursday June 20th – Marketplace! Our final round of marketplace is this coming Thursday! I’ve already heard from a lot of kids about the projects they have been working on. Remember that kids should be hand making a simple project to sell at marketplace. Students can make book marks, cards, comics, stress balls, etc. Students in the past have also cleaned out their gently used toys and books from home and sold to make a profit =). Please don’t spend tons of money to help your child make their project!
  2. Thursday June 20th – FIELD DAY! Field day will be in the afternoon on Thursday!
  3. Monday June 24th – HOMEWORK LUNCH PARTY! If your child turned in all 5 reading logs for the last five weeks they will be invited to a lunch party with me. I will be sending home a slip with them Friday if they earned the reward. If you would like to donate juice boxes, small oranges, or oreos for the lunch party let me know! I will be providing pizza for the kids (including dairy free for those who need it) and would appreciate some help with the other items.
  4. Tuesday June 25th – Classroom Clean Up. This is the day students will be bringing all of their belongings home with them (unless they are leaving earlier). Please send a REUSABLE cloth bag to school with your child! This could be a grocery bag or small duffel bag. Grocery store bags (paper/plastic) tend to not be strong enough to handle the weight of school supplies.
  5. Wednesday June 26th – End of Year Party! This party may get a little messy and a little wet =) It will be from 10am-11am. All families and younger siblings are welcome to join us to watch the excitement!
  6. Thursday June 27th - Last Day!
    • 10am: End of Year Assembly in MPR
    • 11:45: Dismissal Time

Thanks so much for continuing to support and encourage your kiddo as we race to the finish line. Please let me know if you have any questions!
