Starting June 27, 2019 and after that date, a fine will remain on students' accounts until a book is returned. If a student/family locates a book in August or September and would like to return the book, they can do so. At the time of returning the book, the cost of the textbook will be adjusted to a $20 late fee for textbooks (usually costing over $50). For novels, the cost of the book will remain the fine (usually under $18).

An Important Change in Washington State Law Regarding Vaccinations

Effective July 28, 2019 no personal or philosophical exemptions from the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination will be available to families. The law applies to all public and private schools and licensed child care facilities in Washington State.

If a student has had a personal or philosophical exemption in the past, we must now have documentation of MMR immunization from a health care provider or on or before the first day of school on September 4, 2019 as a condition of enrollment. The new law does not affect religious or medical exemptions.

Two doses of MMR are required for all students in grades K-12. The two doses must be given at least 28 days apart. When your child has a first MMR vaccination, please let your school nurse know the date it occurred as well as the date the second dose is administered. We are notifying families now to allow sufficient time to meet the new immunization requirement before the first day of school.

More information can be found at the WA Department of Health exemption law change web page, including FAQs: www.doh.wa.gov/mmrexemption. You are also welcome and encouraged to contact your school nurse if you have questions.

Family Access Summer Maintenance

Family access will be unavailable July 9th to the 15th for maintenance after which only Test scores and Reports cards will be available to families in Family access over the summer. Family Access website is updated with the maintenance dates.

From IHS Counseling - Regarding Failed Classes

As students and parents begin to plan for summer and the next school year, Issaquah counselors have created a document for families to use to answer questions about classes that have been failed. This document can be found on the Issaquah High School Counseling page under the tab labeled Academics. On that page you will see a link to “I failed…”

Please review this document if you or your student has ever earned an F in a class or there is a good possibility they will fail a class this semester, and please feel free to send any additional questions to your/your student’s assigned counselor.
