During a typical year, Evergreen Philharmonic hosts and participates in a variety of performances. Most events are for the entire orchestra while a few are for smaller ensembles.
Five per school year to include
Twice a year, Evergreen Philharmonic participates in a combination concert with several other school district orchestras. Typically in November and May/June.
At a gala event held in February, two musical groups alternate sets. Evergreen Philharmonic plays Viennese waltzes and the IHS Jazz Band plays big band jazz to produce an evening of dancing and fancy desserts under a net of electric starlight.
Issaquah High School produces a full length musical each year and the pit orchestra consists of Evergreen Philharmonic members. Participation in each night's performance is typically a subset of the entire orchestra, the size depending on the year and instrumentation needs.
One or two per year during the school day. These are managed much like a school field trip.
Typically one or two per month held at a local senior facility. These are small to medium ensembles (primarily strings) from the orchestra. Not all students participate and students that are expected to come each time will know who they are. The final, celebratory performance is named 'the Kegger'.
Parents, become an orchestra volunteer to hear stories of how this event was named and more great tales!
Participation is required for all orchestra members. They are professional recording sessions to produce a CD of the year's best musical pieces.
Performances identified with an asterisk (*): Admission is collected at these events. Individual and Family season passes are available for purchase and they include entry at both the feature and showcase concerts. Season passes do not include entry into musicals and Swingin' in Vienna.
