Welcome to another year at Skyline High School. For those new to our building welcome, we are glad you are here. Returning students, I am looking forward to seeing all of you. Remember a kind word and helping hand goes a long way. If you see someone in need reach out and help.
New Semester New Curriculum!!!
Students were fantastic 1st semester and now we are moving into a new program. TRANSMATH Making Sense of Rational Numbers.
Unit 1 will cover: Base-10 operations, bar graphs, fractions, problem solving, applying skills, and skills maintenance. As a class we go over the concepts, repetition, hands on solving, and students using the concepts with daily work provided by their Interactive Text. Occasionally there might be homework but most times this can be done in the classroom.
We are also going to work more closing on solving story problems, learning different math terminology, and decimals.
Starting 2nd Semester, Learning Strategies will be following a different format. At the beginning of each period it is Ms. Eide's time to do an activity, instruction, or writing prompt. Students will be graded on participation and following through with the daily "Eide Idea". 10-15 minutes will be the usual time. I look forward to everyone participating, learning, and enjoying the mini-lessons. Gradebook will reflect the students involvement and work. I have let the students know I am open to any of their suggestions as long as it pertains to the subject as hand.
Wow... I can't believe how fast 1st semester has gone by. Finals will begin on Wednesday January 18th and end on Friday the 20th. Now is the time to make sure all missing assignments are turned in, even for partial credit. Some semester classes have a semester long project, make sure you are on time and followed all the instructions. Once the semester ends there is no going back to do late work.
Let's start 2nd semester with a clean slate!!!
