Green Team News
Thank you to all that helped us reach our goals this year!
It's official! Beaver Lake Middle School is a Level 3 King County Green School! The Green Team has been working hard all year to achieve this goal, and couldn't have done it without the students and staff of BLMS, and our community partners. Thanks to everyone who helped us get there!
We've been busy this year! Here are some pictures that show what we've been up to.
We removed invasive species from Lake Sammamish State Park (above)
We tested the water quality at Beaver Lake Park
We toured the Salmon Hatchery to learn about how pollution affects local species.
We removed invasive English Ivy from the BLMS campus to save our evergreen trees.
We taught our fellow students how to recycle and compost properly.
We installed decals on storm drains to remind our community about the importance of keeping toxic chemicals out of our stromwater system.
We made seed balls so that we could spread some green and beauty to our community.
Students set goals for the year, and then prioritized those goals.
At our first meeting, students discussed what they could contribute to the Green Team, as well as BLMS. Students traced their hands and and wrote down their contributions on a Green Team poster.
