Our Robotics Club is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  In order to participate students need a current Maywood ASB card.  If your student does not already have an ASB card, cards can be purchased from Mrs. Niblock, our school bookkeeper.  ASB cards are $35.00.  No advanced signups are required to join.

Robotics Club meets on Mondays after school, from 2:40 to 4:10 p.m., in the cafeteria.  Activity buses are available for students to ride home.  The activity buses leave Maywood at approximately 4:20 p.m.  Activity buses run a different route than the regular morning and afternoon routes, so time and location of drop off, may be different.  Please check the Issaquah School District Web site for route information.  http://www.issaquah.wednet.edu/files/managed/276/MMS11-12.pdf

We begin working with the LEGO® MindStorm, focusing on team dynamics, problem solving, design, programing, trouble shooting, redesign, and documenting personal contributions to team goals.  Returning Robotics Club members may start working on their Marine Advanced Technology Education (M.A.T.E.) robot, or work with the LEGO® MindStorm. In Dec. we start working on the Marine Advanced Technology Education (M.A.T.E.). In this challenge students build wiring harnesses and submersibles to solve a set of challenges.  Students can participate in one or both of the challenges.  Three teams will have the opportunity to compete in the M.A.T.E. Regional Competition mid-May at the King County Aquatics Center.

We, Mrs. Crouch, Mrs. Zareh, and Mr. Crouch looking forward to meeting your student(s) on September 30th.  If you’d like more information please contact Marla Crouch at crouchm@issaquah.wednet.edu.  Many thanks to Maywood’s ASB and the Issaquah Schools Foundation for their funding of our Robotics Club.
