School nursing, a specialized practice of nursing, protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential.

                    Are your kids ready for school? 

Department of Health Immunization Requirements 

  • Tdap -  To receive this vaccine the student must be 11 years of age. All students not 11 years of age by the beginning of school will need to have the vaccination within 30 days of their birthday. After receiving the updated vaccination from your health care provider, notify the school nurse of the dates by emailing  mmsimmunizations@issaquah.wednet.edu
  • Varicella - All 6-12th graders must have 2 doses of varicella vaccine or healthcare provider verified disease.  Parent reported history of disease is no longer accepted.

Vision and Hearing Screening for all 7th graders is scheduled for

October 29th, 2019 at MMS

New in 2017-18 -  This fall begins the implementation of the State Law - WAC 246-760. The major change includes the requirement for 'near vision' screening in schools for students K-3 as well as 5th and 7th grade students.  If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the screening contact the PTA Vision and Hearing coordinator.
