To take a lung full of air and push it out with some kind of song is an act of survival, whether you’re singing in a shower, a car, in a chorus, at a birthday party, at a church, or whatever. Try it—you’ll live longer.

I teach music to grades 2-5. All students at Apollo receive music instruction twice a week for 30 minutes, and have the opportunity to sing, play instruments, move, dance, create, read, and explore music.

I am very excited to be teaching music here at Apollo! I have always loved music, and began playing the piano when I was 7. In 4th grade, I started playing flute in my elementary school band. I earned my bachelor's of music in performance from Boston University, and my teaching certification from the University of Washington. I also completed all three Levels of my Kodaly certification at Seattle Pacific University, and am passionate about integrating this approach to music teaching. I have taught elementary general music and band in Highline Public Schools and at Seattle Music Partners, and also taught private flute lessons. I continue to perform today, and am a member of the Seattle Philharmonic, where I play flute and piccolo. I love learning new things about music- my latest project is learning to play the banjo!
When not teaching or playing music, I enjoy cooking, hiking, yoga, reading, and spending time with family and friends. My husband teaches band and guitar at Liberty High School, and we have two cats named Iggy and Coco.
