The Homework Board in class is accurate. Students should not rely on me to send them text messages; they need to rely on their planners. Students are responsible for completing and turning their homework in on time, regardless if I send a text message reminder or not.

Our classroom is set-up to encourage independent thinking and learning. It is a positive and safe environment that encourages students to take risks in their learning. Resources and procedures are available all of the time for students to utilize to encourage their independence.
Please Note: Homework and class work are not given in advance. If you will be on vacation or on a fieldtrip, please refer to the ABSENCES Handout on how to find out what you've missed & how to make it up.
When are you available to meet with students?I am available most days before school 7:30-8:00 (W: 9:40-10:10). I have a ‘Meet With Me’ calendar posted outside of our classroom door and there is a link on our classroom home page to the calendar. If the calendar day is marked ‘AM’, then I am available that day before school. If the calendar has a ‘XX’ in place of AM that means that I am not available during that time on that particular day.
Do I need to make an appointment to meet with you before school?Nope! These are drop-in hours. If the calendar says AM, just come on in!
What if your calendar says you are available, but when I get to your room, you are not there?Wait a minute or two to see if I return. Sometimes, I am in the middle of making copies or working on something in the building. If I don’t return within a couple of minutes, you may go to the office and ask to have me paged on the PA system.
I was absent, can I ask you before or after class what I missed? No, between classes is not a good time to ask me what you missed when you were absent. Refer to the ABSENCES handout. Please see me before school, during BBT, or during WIN Wednesday. However, I post the Padlets for each lesson on our class website that has photos of our classroom notebook, directions, handouts, and notes. The Padlets also list what we have done on each day, so you can see what we did specifically on the day(s) you missed. Check the files outside of our classroom door for any handouts that were passed out while you were absent.
I was absent, when can I ask you what I missed?Always refer to the ABSENCES Handout first. Please refer to the Meet With Me Calendar and plan on seeing me before school or in class during WIN Wednesday or BBT if you need help.
Do I get credit for turning in missed work?Yes! You have until the end of the Trimester to turn in completed work from that Trimester. Every student is held accountable for completing all assigned course work. You can utilize BBT, WIN Wednesdays, and Learning Lunch during the school day to complete any missing work.
I missed a lab. How do I make it up?If the lab materials are still available, then come in before school, on the next W.I.N. Wednesday, or during BBT to complete the lab. Once you have conducted the lab and finished all required questions in your notebook, turn your notebook in with a rubric. If you complete a lab, but never turn your notebook in, it is still considered missing.
If the lab materials are no longer available, then you may complete an Extension Activity for each missed lab. Extension Activities are at the bottom of each Lesson Padlet. Please choose an Extension Activity that is within the Padlet for the lesson you have missed a lab(s) in.
Why do I have a '0' in the gradebook?> If you were absent on the day an assignment was collected, the gradebook will show '0AB'. When you turn your missing assignment in, a grade will be entered.> If you were present on the day an assignment was collected, but you did not have it or it was incomplete, the gradebook will show '0MS'. When the assignment is completed and turned in, a grade will be entered.> If you were present on the day an assignment was collected and you turned it in, but the gradebook shows '0MS' -- WAS YOUR NAME ON YOUR ASSIGNMENT? Assignments with no name printed on them are considered missing. Check the 'NO NAME' folder by the Homework Board, put your name on it, and turn it in. You will receive partial credit.
How do I make up a Science Starter if I can’t find my sheet? You may complete 2 Extension Activities from any of the Padlets we have completed in place of your Science Starter sheet.
