Welcome to my classroom this year. Teaching kindergarten is a gift, especially at a school as wonderful as Briarwood. Throughout the year I will come to know your kids and form meaningful relationships with them as we learn our ABC's and 123's!
Our class will be using the app Seesaw to connect families with our learning at school! Please use the code from Mr. Mangum to connect to your child's account. Enjoy!!
About Mr. Mangum
I grew up in Oregon. Until recently, I'd lived there my entire life. Oregon's lush greenery and breathtaking coasts fostered an excellent childhood and adulthood. I attended several Oregon colleges before graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in chemistry with a focus on biochemistry. Only later did I realize I truly wanted to be a teacher, and so went and received my Master's diploma from Lewis and Clark college in 2017.
I've taught 5th grade and now, kindergarten. I love my career for its rewarding nature and interpersonally, for all of its fun and challenge. Many times over I feel a great sense of peace and accomplishment at becoming a grade school teacher.
If you spot me out in the community, it's more than likely upon a trail. Most weekends I end up exploring the mountains, lakes and cliffs of the PNW. Trees, trails and tall mountains are essential for my resilience, not optional.
I have a brother and a sister-in-law in the Seattle area. My parents still live in Oregon, in a city called Tigard. My parents immigrated from southern California in the late 1980s to Oregon.
