4th Grade Content Recap

Here's what's happening in Room P2!

  • Reading - We are working on identifying the theme with fiction texts and summarizing non-fiction text.
  • Writing - We are starting our Literary Essay Unit where students will be identifying the theme of a picture book along with character traits and motivations as they begin to write a 5 paragraph opinion essay. This week the kiddos are working to develop a thesis statement with three reasons, and find evidence to support.
  • Math - We have started Module 7 focused on comparison word problem measurements. Students are encouraged to have a growth mindset as the content in these multi-step word problems is challenging at times.
  • Social Studies - We are in the depth of Unit 3 focusing on Washington today. Our upcoming lessons are looking in depth at the Washington State Constitution and annotating what the different parts mean to us.
  • Science - We are wrapping up our Ecosystems unit. The kiddos will be investigating how pollution impacts their terrariums.
