Students are expected to read every night at home- weekends are optional! Please encourage your child to read at least 15 minutes every weekday.
Comprehension is a key component of reading. Ask your child about the story they are reading! Some questions you might ask are:
* What do you think this book will be about? Why?
*What do you think will happen next?
*What is the problem in the story? The Solution?
*When you read this part, what did you picture in your head?
*Who are the main characters? What are they like?
*How did the characters change throughout the story?
Social Studies: I can tell how where I live affects how I live
I can interpret and understand a variety of maps
Math: I understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false.
I understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones.
I can express the length of an object as a whole number of length units

Writing: I can write an informative text where I name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide a sense of closure.
Reading: I can ask and answer questions about key details in a text
I can identify the main topic and retell key details of a text.
