My name is Emily Beckford and I am excited to begin a wonderful school year! This is my seventh year at Creekside teaching first grade, and I feel incredibly lucky to be apart of such an amazing community. First grade holds a special place in my heart as it was the grade I decided I wanted to be a teacher! This summer I was lucky enough to be accepted into a technology program and am excited to apply what I learned to the classroom and have fun with some new tech gadgets this year. Traveling is my absolute favorite hobby and I try to get it in anytime I can no matter how big or small. Feel free to reach out and introduce yourself!

Homework is not sent out nightly or even weekly in first grade. The occasional project will be sent home throughout the year, but based on the newly adopted Issaquah School District Homework Policy students are allocated 10 minutes per year in school, making 20 minutes in first grade the max time students may spend each night on homework. As a first grade team we feel that time can best be used reading with your child since this is such a crucial age for literacy development. Additional ideas include the useful sites located on this page, keeping a journal, and playing the math games handed out at curriculum night. Thank you so much for your partnership!
