Mrs. Foos’ Classroom Mission Statement:
Students will feel welcome and safe.
Students will develop and increase independence socially, emotionally, and academics.
Students will learn to identify their weaknesses and recognize them as learning opportunities, helping them create goals and implement them with my support.
Students will recognize their strengths, apply them to their learning, and use them in positive ways that benefit their learning community.
Students will increase their growth mindset- knowing they can achieve with dedication, support, and a positive attitude.
Our classroom is a system of support, encouragement, challenges, and a community of respectful, life-long learners.
What We Are Learning 9/16-9/20
Phonics: Beginning sounds review, concept sorts, and rhyming review
*please note that although there are mini whole class lessons, your child will be receiving individualized phonics instruction imbedded in their reading instruction when our small groups begin.
Math: Represent “putting together” situations in numbers bonds within 1-10
*like phonics, as students are more fluent in the math menu, students individual needs will be met during independent work time.
Comprehension: Establishing a reading community
Writing: Focusing on our community of writers: how to use folders, tools, brainstorming, and using resources to spell (words in room, “stretchy snake”).
Science: Changing of Seasons- it’s almost fall!
We will continue to practice routines and building our relationships
