This week we’ve started our new math unit about shapes. Students are learning attributes of shapes and how to define them. The “parent tips” sheet is attached for module 5. We’ve also started writing our book reviews. They are welcome to bring a book from home they are interested in writing about. They are using the same strategies for convincing their reader as they are with writing their book reviews. This week in reading we focused on reading with fluency and stopping to look at punctuation to know how the author wants us to read the words.
Ms. Svore came on Monday and students water-colored bobcats. In the next couple of weeks we’ll start our science unit on animal kingdoms. The art we made for the book We Found a Hat is in the front office- take a look. J
On Monday we have an author visit from Suzanne Selfors. The PTSA is also hosting a scholastic book fair next week afterschool on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as, on Friday during Family Fun Night.
The talent show is tomorrow! I’m in Spokane for a teacher convention. I leave after school today, so Mrs. Ellis will be here tomorrow. Call the office if anything comes up that’s urgent (425-837-4100). I should be able to check email throughout the day on Friday.
Have a great weekend!
