Reminders/Upcoming Important Dates:

Writing Lab: Students have a daily journal entry which focuses on a skill each day. Mondays students will learn about prefixes, suffixes, and root words. Tuesdays students will learn rules for editing written work. Wednesdays students will learn about parts of speech and sentence structure. Thursdays students are learning about frequently used idioms, which helps with inference based skills. Fridays students are given a writing prompt and asked to do a quick write. The main focus for this week's lessons will be identifying the main idea and details. On Friday, students will be participating in progress monitoring.

Fridays students are given a writing prompt and asked to do a quick write. This week we are watching the movie The Mighty after having finished the novel Freak the Mighty. On Friday, students will be participating in progress monitoring.

Learning strategies:  Students are setting weekly goals and reflecting about what they have learned in class, reviewing class expectations, and participating in getting to know you activities and classroom building activities. On Friday students will reflect on the goal he/she set for the week and have an individual conference with the teacher to review his/her goal, grades, and missing work.
