• Virus Pop-Ups


    Hi folks,

    I ran virus scan on all the computers in the lab 112 at the end of the day. Most of them had some version of a fake virus alert trojan or malware on them. These are those annoying pop-ups that say, you have many viruses and you must run a scan now.

     Most of you, and the students, know not to choose yes, but I had been led to believe and have told some to choose X to close the window. However…I have now learned…

  • It's Time to Update to Internet Explorer 8

    I've been asked to instruct you all to update your internet browser to Internet Explorer 8.
    If you don't know what version you have you can find this out by opening IE (the little blue e) and clicking on Help in the tool bar and at the bottom of the list click on About Internet Explorer. The about splash screen will open and tell you the version you currently have.

  • Connections, connections, connections.


    One of the first steps in troubleshooting is checking the connections. At least twice a week the problem is solved by unplugging the device and replugging it in confirming a secure connection. Sometimes, the input is plugged into the output and sometimes the yellow tipped cord is plugged into the white one receptical.

    Even though you make think it is "all plugged in" there may be a misconnection.
