This is a "living document" with frequent updates(Questions are listed in the order of frequency)
Question 1. I took the assignment on time; why is my score is still a zero? There are two main reasons for this. The first is that a student clicked "Save" instead of "Save and Complete Assignment". Clicking "Save" does just that; saves your progress. Clicking "Save and Complete Assignment" actually submits and turns in your assignment. Secondly, your teacher may have accidentally selected the "No Partial Credit" box when creating the assignment. Your teacher can fix this.
Question 2: My score on the assignment was XX%. Why is my overall grade a "zero"?This pops us at the start of every trimester; remember that Skyward gives everyone a “zero” until a non-zero percent category score is entered. Since assignments are formative (zero percent category), regardless of you score, Skyward "calculates" your overall grade as 0% F until you take an assessment.
Question 3: Do the formative assignments count towards my grade? No. As usual, only assessments count directly towards your overall grade. The formative assignments are there to help you "track" your progress towards meeting standard on the learning targets
Question 4: When are the Help Sessions?Helps sessions are now done (as best as we can) via email. I am actively watching fro student/parent emails between 1.00 PM and 2.00 PM TUES and THURS. You can, of course, email me anytime you have a question, but the help sessions scheduled times are when the response is likely immediate.
Question 5: Why can't I access the assignment/assessment?Assignments and assessments have active windows during which you can access and complete them. Beginning 4.27.20, I'll try to get assignments posted en mass on Mondays (8.00 AM) and due on the Fridays of that week at 11.59 PM. Assessments are assigned and open access from 8.o0 AM the morning they are assigned to their due time by 11.59 PM. If you miss an assignment window, the assignment is late and is logged as missing, and you no longer have access to the Skyward Tool. You can print a hard copy from the assignment for learning purposes, but not for credit. If you miss a window for an assessment, contact me to work something out.
Question: 6: I am not receiving all the messages or emails. What gives? As of 4.22, Skyward Message Center is experiencing issues. Until the fix comes in, it will continue to be inconsistent. Keep checking the website for information as much of it is posted for redundancy. Of course, this assumes that I have been setting up the messaging correctly all this time...
Question 7: When is actual new learning for content scheduled? The first week is, in effect, review for content. The "new" learning for Week 1 is the Skyward Assessment Tool - for both students and teacher. New content learning begins on 4.27.20 with chemical bonding.
