Science/

Social Studies

Wind and Water Erosion, Part 1

  • We’ve learned that glaciers can carve mountain slopes and create rivers. But there are other forces that shape our landscape.

  • Read pages 5-8 and pages 17-18 of Rocky Wonders.*

  • Now look at this picture of the Palouse Canyon here in Washington.

  • Write a paragraph to explain how you think erosion helped shape it.

Current Events

These sites offer the best kid friendly articles on current events.

**Choose an article to read and write a summary of what you read

Wind and Water Erosion, Part 2

  • Read pages 19-21 of Rocky Wonders.*

  • Now look at these two images. Build from the ideas you read about arches to draw a diagram or make a model showing how you think these sea stacks were formed.

Wonderopolis

Welcome to Wonderopolis®, a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages. Each day, we pose an intriguing question—the Wonder of the Day®—and explore it in a variety of ways.

**Choose an article to read and write a summary of what you read

Wind and Water Erosion, Part 3 (unplugged)

  • Make a model of wind or water erosion using materials you find at home. What can you use to make the land? How can you create wind or moving water? What happens? Share a picture on SeeSaw.

Remember, you can always do typing or coding through clever.com. Or, send me an email and I’ll write back to you!
