Hello Families!

Your Sunny Hills 4th Grade teachers have been hard at work preparing new learning for students to finish the rest of the school year, while working remotely.  We know this isn’t easy for families and we are all learning how to do this with intention, compassion and purpose. As teachers, we are going to be relying on you to help engage your child in the required work.  Required work includes the three assignments posted on Seesaw each week. The other tasks throughout the week are for practice. Report cards will be completed for the last trimester, so it is very important we have all families engaged in the learning and completing the work. Below is general information that will help you get started.

Every Sunday you will receive the document that outlines work for the following week.  Please email your child’s teacher with any specific questions you have as we move forward.

The math routine will be the same, Monday - Thursday. First, students will watch a video lesson. Then, they will spend ten minutes working on their problem set pages.  You can print the journal pages off or you can write the work in a notebook. You decide what works best for your family. After ten minutes, students can be done with the problem set even if they were not able to complete it. Finally, they will do a session of Zearn (accessed through Clever.com). Every Friday there will be a required assignment on Seesaw that will be for a grade.

There will be reading lessons taught via video on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students will watch the video, then do the work assigned for that day. Links are added to the schedule to access the materials. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students will do a session onwww.lexiacore5.com

Lexia Reading® Core5® is a research-proven, blended learning program that accelerates the development of fundamental literacy skills for students of all abilities in grades pre-K-5. Following a rigorous scope and sequence, Core5 provides explicit, systematic instruction through personalized, adaptive learning paths in six areas of reading.

. They will also do 20-30 minutes of independent reading every day. Every Friday there will be a required assignment on Seesaw that will be for a grade.

There will be writing lessons taught via video on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will watch the videos, and then do the assigned writing. On Mondays and Wednesdays you will use the time to continue your assigned writing.  Every Friday there will be a required assignment on Seesaw that will be for a grade.

Most weeks, the team will include enrichment work that your family can select from.  Please know these activities are optional and do not need to be completed unless you choose to do so.  We also want you to have fun and be creative with your own learnings at home.

Office Hours

The purpose of office hours are for the families to know that their teacher is readily available to answer questions or to clarify assignments for that week.  My office hours are as follows: Mondays & Thursdays from 10-11.

You will find the schedule for next week attached to this email to help with an early look for the first week.

Thank you,

Fourth Grade Team
