ELL teachers work with students who speak languages other than English at home with their families. At Sunny Hills, the ELL teachers collaborate with classroom teachers to design small group lessons for students. The lessons help students develop their English language skills while also learning academic content.

This month, kindergarten students are working on comparing and contrasting two stories:
The classroom teacher will read these two stories aloud, and the ELL teacher will use a comparison chart to practice comparing and contrasting with the whole kindergarten class.
First graders are writing informational texts. In ELL small groups, students are getting extra writing support. We brainstorm and write our texts together as a group. Some groups are presenting their work in front of their whole class! Our topics include recess, zebras, penguins, and tigers.
